Detailed breakdown of my purchase

I decided to invest in the Sjabloon license after comparing it to a few other Rails boilerplates. The ordering process was simple enough, just a few clicks and I had access. Delivery was instant, with a link to download and access the private repo. I specifically used the Tailwind CSS themes and the Hotwire and Turbo setup. The quality of the code is high, and it's easy to extend. Customer support responded within 24 hours when I had a question about customizing the dark mode support, which was good. The automated testing suite is comprehensive, giving me confidence in the codebase. The user impersonation tool is also a neat feature I didn't expect to use as much as I do. It really accelerated getting our MVP out the door.

Mostly positive, minor issue

I purchased the Sjabloon license primarily for the multi-tenancy configuration and the admin dashboard template. Both were well-implemented and saved a lot of development hours. The deployment scripts also worked out of the box for Heroku, which was a plus. My only minor gripe was that the API documentation generator took a bit more tweaking than expected to get it to match my specific setup. Still, good value for the price.

Reliable and consistent

This is my third time using Sjabloon for a new SaaS idea. I bought the full license again because it just works. Every time I come back, they've updated it for the latest Rails version, and the documentation is always clear. The background job setup and transactional email templates are always a time-saver. It's comforting to know I can rely on it to get a project off the ground quickly without much fuss.

Good starting point

I got the Sjabloon license a few weeks ago. It's been pretty helpful for setting up a new project. The authentication setup was straightforward and saved me some time. Overall, a solid product.

What's the deal with payment providers? Does Sjabloon only work with Stripe or can you swap in something else like PayPal?

G Greg Lindqvist 1 month ago
It's pretty tightly integrated with Stripe for billing and subscriptions. I haven't seen an official way to easily swap that out.

N Nina Torres 1 month ago
Yeah, it's built around Stripe for payments. If you need something else, you'd probably have to do a good bit of custom work.

Can you use Sjabloon for more than one project? Or is it like, one license per app you build?

D David C. 2 months ago
Yeah, you can totally use it for multiple projects. That's one of the cool things about it.

S Steve P. 2 months ago
Yep, my understanding is it's a dev license, not a per-project one. Pretty sweet deal actually if you're building a few things.

Is the code base for Sjabloon easy to work with? Like, is it all open and readable or is some of it compiled or something?

C Carly 2 months ago
Totally open, man. It's Ruby on Rails. You get full access to tweak everything.

J James G. 2 months ago
Nah, no obfuscated stuff. It's a starter kit, so you'd expect to dig into the code and customize it. That's the whole point.

If I buy Sjabloon now, do I get updates for free down the line? Or is it a one-time thing and then new versions cost more?

G Gwen 2 months ago
Yep, free updates for life with the license. That's a huge plus.

C Chris B. 2 months ago
You get all the future updates included with your purchase, which is pretty standard for these kinds of starter kits.

Hey, wondering about the current sale on Sjabloon. Saw some posts about discounts, are there any active codes right now for the lifetime license?

B Beth S. 2 months ago
I think they sometimes do special promo codes for events or stuff like Product Hunt launches. Worth checking their site directly or Twitter.

N Nina N. 2 months ago
Nah, they usually just have sales around holidays like Black Friday or New Year. Unless you catch an early bird, might have to wait a bit.

Hey, what's their refund policy like? Just in case it doesn't quite fit my project needs.

T Tara V. 2 months ago
I think they have a refund policy, usually within a certain timeframe if it doesn't work out. Check their terms on the site.

C Cody Kim 2 months ago
Yeah, they offer refunds. I remember seeing it when I bought it, seemed pretty straightforward if you request it soon after purchase.

Do they offer student discounts for Sjabloon? Building a side project and every bit helps.

D Daisy 2 months ago
I heard they sometimes do developer or startup discounts, might be worth asking if that extends to students or if there's a specific program.
4
D Dana 2 months ago
Not sure about a dedicated student discount, but they do have deals during seasonal peaks, so keep an eye out for those.

How does Sjabloon stack up against something like Jumpstart Pro? Is it pretty much the same features or are there big differences?

J Julia 2 months ago
Sjabloon focuses a lot on a polished UI and good Stripe integration out of the box. Jumpstart Pro is solid too, but I found Sjabloon a bit more opinionated in a good way for getting started fast.

N Nina Walsh 2 months ago
I've used both. Sjabloon felt more 'batteries included' for a typical SaaS, especially with the UI stuff. Jumpstart has its strengths, but Sjabloon's dev experience was a bit smoother for me.
